Questions for MP

I REFER to John Healey’s letter (Advertiser January 31) and ask the following questions of him:

1. Energy prices rose by £300 under the coalition, but have risen by 18 per cent in total sincer 2004.

Q. What did Labour do about energy prices in government?

Q. How does Ed Milliband’s 2009 Climate Change Act, adding £115  yearly to energy bills, address energy companies profiteering?

2. Global warming stopped in 1998 and the UK has 30,000 deaths per year from cold weather.

Q. How do Labour’s green taxes help either of these facts?

3. The Tories, Labour, Goldman Sachs, Barclays Bank and British Petroleum (BP) all support the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (UKIP oppose it)

Q. How will this scheme stop profiteering?

4. Labour voted for the EU’s Combustion Plants law which will close the UK’s remaining coal-fired power stations.

Q. How will this help energy prices and security of supply?

5. Both you and the Tories support building on Rotherham’s green belt to house Sheffield’s population overflow due to unlimited immigration.

Q. How will this help CO2 emissions?

6. To hit the borrowing criteria to join the euro, Labour left public services with £300 billion of Private Finance debt including £65 billion of NHS PFI debt.

Q. Why did you remain silent whilst Labour adopted Tory privatisation policy?  (UKIP opposed PFI)

.7  You talk of EU reform but under Labour, EU payments increased by 80pc to £18 billion a year. UK borders wre signed overr to the EU and mass immigration began.  Labour and you yourself voted for euro bailouts but against your promised referendum on the EU Constitution (now Lisbon Treaty)

Q. How did Labour’s EU reform work for Britain?

In short, you can cry crocodile tears and invoke all the privatisation scare stories you like John, but during Labour’s time in offfice you had the opportunity to vote against all of this, but didn’t and by so doing you failed the people of Rotherham and in particular your constituents in Wentworth & Dearne.
