Rotherham child abduction suspect remanded in custody

A MAN charged in connection with alleged child abduction and incitement to take part in underage sex has been remanded in custody.

Vejuhadin Ghorbani (37) appeared before Magistrates accused of child abduction and  inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity.

Ghorbani, of Park Mount, Clifton, spoke through a Kurdish interpreter during this morning's hearing at Rotherham Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody until September 23, when he will appear at Sheffield Crown Court.

The charges relate to three girls, two aged 11 and one 13-year-old, who were reported missing at 10.20pm on Saturday from the Rotherham area.

After a large-scale search, they were found and returned safely home.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident  to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 1220 of September 6 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
