Titans forced to play on Herringthorpe

TITANS will play their opening home game of the Championship season on the new Phoenix Park training centre on Herringthorpe Fields.

TITANS will play their opening home game of the season on the new training centre on Herringthorpe Fields.

With the curtain-raiser against Ealing just a month away, the club announced last night that attempts to find a suitable venue, with the doors to Clifton Lane firmly closed during the cricket season, have fallen flat.

That means the only option will be to play on the new Phoenix Park centre on Sunday, September 6.

Titans have been given clearance to play after discussions with Rotherham Council.

Capacity levels will be limited with advance tickets now on sale. Seating areas will be confined to season ticket holders and further details will be announced shortly.

The game was initially due to have been played at Ealing but the London club's ground has been requisitioned as a World Cup training base.

Meanwhile, excitement is mounting for the visit of the Rugby World Cup tomorrow.

The entourage will be at Phoenix Park at 3pm with plenty of additional activities. All are welcome.
