Keeper set for rare start

The fans' favourite will be back between the posts against Morecambe at Don Valley Stadium tomorrow as new manager Steve Evans considers extending his five-year stay at the club.

The 35-year-old was shunted to the sidelines by previous boss Andy Scott, many felt unfairly, despite his solid form over many seasons.

With his contract up this summer, it looked like Warrington's days were numbered but Evans has wiped the slate clean and is offering the fans' favourite the chance of a fresh start.

In for on-loan keeper Rhys Taylor, it will be only the veteran's second start since October.

Evans said: "It's a big opportunity for Andy. When Andy Scott was here, he made it clear that his days were finished.

"It doesn't matter to me if Andy Warrington he is 35 or whatever, I think he has been an outstanding goalkeeper and he will be getting his chance.

"He has trained well and was excellent in the reserves on Monday . I want to give him the opportunity to stay with us and move into the new stadium."

Defeat in Evans' first game, at Shrewsbury last Saturday, left the Millers five points shy of the League Two play-off frame with only three games remaining. They need maximum points to stand any real chance of sneaking in and they are being urged to push right to the finish.

Kick-off tomorrow is 3pm.
