Blue badge fines for drivers

TWO motorists have been fined for using disabled Blue Badges illegally in Rotherham.

Darren Anthony Wayne Leverett of West Avenue, Rawmarsh, was charged with using his daughter’s blue badge when he parked his car on Doncaster Gate in October last year.

The unemployed 44-year-old, who failed to appear at court or send in a plea by post, was fined £150 with £150 costs and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.

On the same day, Ansar Mahmood of Halifax, was charged with using his daughter’s badge when he parked his car in Douglas Street car park in October 2014.

The 38-year-old butcher from Stansfield Close, pleaded guilty by post and was fined £100 with £100 costs and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
