Millers embark on tough run

ROTHERHAM United embark on their hardest run of the season this weekend while waiting to see whether they can land a club record signing.

Personal terms and a fee for the player in question, understood to be a striker from the Championship, have been agreed and the deal will go through providing the sellers' are able to land their own target.

Steve Evans wants his new man on board for a loan spell right through to the date of the League One play-off final, with the deal set to become permanent after that.

No developments are expected today, leaving the in-form Millers to concentrate on tomorrow's trip to Carlisle.

It's the start of a sequence of four away games from five which cointinues with a trip to top-six rivals Preston North on Tuesday.

"That's a massive game and there will probably by 15,000 or 16,000 there," Evans told the Advertiser. "But we've got to concentrate on Carlisle first and we can't afford to let up.

"We've taken 16 points from the last 18 and it's been important to produce that kind of form because this division is particularly strong this year."

The match will come too soon for skipper Craig Morgan, who missed last Saturday's win over Stevenage due to tonsilitis. He is expected to be fit for Tuesday, as is Mark Bradley. The defender hurt his back last weekend and will sit out it tomorrow.

Rob Milsom, Claude Davis and Alex Revell have all been given the all-clear.
