Clifton Park dance to turn back clock

WARTIME spirit will be rekindled with an open air dance as a conservation group marks Armed Force Day next month.

The Friends of Clifton Park are welcoming Dearne Big Band to the park’s Garden House courtyard to accompany dancers on what they hope will be a fine summer evening.

Friends chairman Elaine Humphries said: “We’re hoping to recreate the old days when people danced in the open air around the bandstand.

“Bring your chairs and cushions and have dance or simply sit and listen to the music.”

The summer dance takes place from 7.30pm to 11pm on June 28.

Tickets priced £6 are available from the Garden House during its usual opening hours.

You can also buy tickets to the Friends’ Dance at the Advertiser’s Wellgate office.
