Fantastic response to Weekender toy appeal

THERE has been a fantastic response so far to our annual Christmas appeal to help those less fortunate.

The Weekender team is asking generous folk to donate a gift or toy for a young person which could be a CD, colouring items, board games or DVDs.

We will present the items to the team from Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to give out to youngsters with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses.

Karen Mullins, office manager, said: “We have been overwhelmed once again by the generosity of Weekender readers and the number of gifts we already have is fantastic.

“We are keen to do what we can to help all worthwhile causes, including Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, which helps families across South Yorkshire.

“We are really grateful to anyone that can spare a gift which will make a real difference to the lives of the children at the hospice this Christmas.

“Thank you so much to everyone who has already been in and donated a gift.”

Gifts must be wrapped and marked with a tag stating whether they are for a boy or girl and what age they are suitable for.

We then ask that you drop them off at the Weekender office, 84 High Street, Mexborough by Monday, December 16.
