Competition gives us a boost: Titans

MARK Jones says the increased competition for players will drive the Titans on as the season progresses.

The Clifton Lane coach has been delighted with the way squad members are banging on the door for starting shirts, winger Ben Rath and Welsh newcomer Ross Jones being the latest.

Rath was given his first Championship start at Bristol last week and responded with a stirring display on the wing, including showing a deft turn of speed for Rotherham’s opening try.

Jones, signed at the start of from Ospreys, also shone in his late cameo role from the bench at Ashton Gate.

The 23-year-old former Welsh U20 prospect’s career in South Wales came to a half when he suffered an ankle injury earlier this year.

He had played 21 times for Ospreys, including 14 during the 2012-13 season, before being given his Championship chance at Clifton Lane.

Both Jones and Rath will be in the coach’s thinking for team selection against Moseley tomorrow (3pm).
