Millers in double deal

MIDFIELDER Ben Pringle is staying on at Rotherham United — but Ian Sharps' days at the club look numbered.

Pringle has signed a two-and-a-half extended deal while centre-half Sharps, who has struggled to get into the side in recent weeks, has joined Burton Albion on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.

Manager Steve Evans said: "Burton have asked the question on a couple of occasions and added to the fact that Craig Morgan will return to action shortly, it made sense for me to sanction the loan move."

Signed from Derby County in June 2011, Pringle has been a regular this season, making 31 appearances and scoring six goals.

Evans said: "I am delighted that Ben has committed his future to Rotherham United. The situation came to a head when we received two good offers for him in the last week but my chairman, Tony Stewart, has stayed true to his word and turned them down whilst at the same time appreciating the fact we could have lost a player in May for nothing."

Like many others across the country, the Millers' game at Oxford United was snowed off at the weekend. The next scheduled fixture is at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
