Attacker breaks victim's jaw in Rother Valley Park attack

A MAN suffered a fractured jaw when he was punched twice and knocked to the floor during a serious assault at a beauty spot.

The 34-year-old Asian victim was in Rother Valley Country Park when the alleged attack took place at around 5.30pm on Saturday, April 20.

Detectives are now appealing for help from the public to trace those involved.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The alleged assault took place at the north west corner of the park between the lake and a railway foot bridge that leads to the village of Beighton.

“The man is believed to have punched the victim twice in the face causing multiple fractures to his jaw area and knocking him to the floor.”

The attacker is described as around 5ft 9ins, white, slim build, clean shaven and wearing a balaclava or face covering.

He was with a small group of people before the attack and fled on foot into the wooded area, north of the park.

The police spokeswoman added: “Extensive searches were conducted at the time to no gain.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was part of the group or who may have witnessed this incident.”
