Warne's big year gathers pace

PAUL Warne's testimonial year is stepping up a gear with a series of pub nights for the long-time Rotherham United favourite.

Dates have been confirmed for three, the first of which is at the Ring O'Bells at Swinton on Wednesday, March 20 (7.30pm) featuring a question and answer session and other activities involving Warne and invited players. One of the raffle prizes is a limited edition Paul Warne shirt.

A similar function follows at the Queens Hotel at Maltby on Tuesday, April 9 — further details of which will soon be revealed — and the long-time Millers favourite will also be present at a race night at the Manor Barn at Kimberworth on Wednesday, April 17.

Admission is £5, which includes a signed testimonial brochure and a £2 bet to be used on the evening. Tickets will be on sale shortly from the Manor Barn and the Droppingwell at Kimberworth.

Tickets are also on sale for the testimonial dinner at the New York Stadium on Saturday, March (7.30pm). The cost is £40 per head for a three-course dinner plus coffee with entertainment from Malcolm Lord, Ronnie Moore and John Breckin. Among those attending are one-time favourites Alan Lee, Andy Monkhouse, Kevin Watson, Guy Branston, Chris Sedgwick and Mike Pollitt.
