Time to celebrate region's history

THE oldest building in South Yorkshire will open its doors next weekend as part of a celebration of the region’s history.

St Peter’s Church in Conisbrough, believed to date from the 8th century, will be open to visitors for a Heritage Open Days weekend on Saturday, September 13, from 10am to 4pm and 1pm to 4pm the following day.

There will be guides on hand to talk about the church’s development throughout its 1,300-year history.

There will also be an Art in The Aisles exhibition by local artists and light refreshments will be available.
