Young musicians celebrate Millers promotion with a New York, New York concert

ROTHERHAM United’s promotion success will be celebrated tomorrow when the Rotherham Schools Music Service showcases its talent with a special end-of-year Senior Prom concert.

New York, New York will be one of a huge repertoire of musical numbers performed by 80 young people at the concert, which takes place at 7pm tomorrow at the Thurcroft Music Academy.

Aged from 13 to 18 years old, the youngsters play in a variety of senior ensembles including the Rotherham Youth Orchestra, the Rotherham Youth Big Band, Rotherham Schools Concert Band and the RMS Percussion Ensemble.

New York, New York will be performed by the Rotherham Big Band.

The Rotherham Youth Orchestra will be playing the Finale from Beethoven Symphony No 5, Copland Hoe-Down and Send in the Clowns among others, and will include the final show for 13 of its students, who are leaving this year, some of whom are going on to study music.

Rotherham Schools Concert Band will be playing well-known tunes from hit musicals and films, such as Les Miserables and the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
