Andrew Cordon and Richard Saville, of Begbies Traynor, were appointed as joint administrators of Bentley Motorhomes Ltd after a “significant reduction in sales.”

The company, which trades from Swinton Meadow Industrial Estate, employed 26 staff and last year had a turnover of £2.4 million.

The business is well known within the mobile home industry and has won awards for its innovation and design.

“It is particularly disappointing to be appointed to such a well run company and one that has an excellent reputation for the quality of its products,” said Andrew Cordon.

“The market in which the company trades is extremely competitive and the recent poor weather has done little for sales.

“We have received considerable interest in the business, which at this early stage is encouraging.”

Bentley Motorhomes won three major awards in the Caravan Club Design and Drive Awards 2011.

The firm operated from the same trading premises as another motorhome builder Autowise which also collapsed.

Another nearby firm, Coltran Products Ltd, also recently went into administration when the business collapsed and all its staff laid off and the locks changed.

Coltran, on Church Street, Mexborough, which employed around 40 people, was sited on the banks of the South Yorkshire Navigation Canal in what was regarded as landmark waterfront premises.

The firm’s primary business was designing, engineering and manufacturing products in metal tube and wire.

No-one from the the company could be contacted.

Doncaster Chamber of Commerce said Coltran was no longer a member of its organisation and nothing was known about what had happened.
