Rotherham landmarks in running for property 'Oscars'

TWO of Rotherham’s newest property projects are set to battle it out against the region's coveted property Oscars.

Riverside House is in the running for both the Commercial award and the Regeneration accolade at the RICS Pro-Yorkshire Awards, while Rotherham Central Station has been shortlisted for the Infrastructure accolade after its £8.5m revamp.

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors received entries from all areas of the region, from small-scale community schemes through to multi-million pound developments.

The shortlist of 40 built projects are now in with a chance of winning one of eight prestigious awards including Project of the Year.

Riverside House is the borough council’s new HQ and opened its doors in February last year, providing the first major part of the Rotherham Renaissance programme, with a range of public services for staff and the community all under one roof.

Rotherham Central Station has been updated to include new lighting, lifts, a waiting room and improved passenger information screens.

Disabled access to the station has also been improved.
