Want to be a special PC?

LIFEWISE will host an information evening for anyone interested in becoming a special constable.

The volunteers are given the same training as regular police officers and have their own mentor.

Stephen Merrett, chief officer of the special constabulary, said: “Specials have a unique opportunity to perform a wide range of duties, from providing a visible policing presence at sporting events to searching for missing people.

“I’d encourage anyone interested in this diverse and challenging job role to come along to one of our presentations and find out a bit more.”

The event takes place at the Hellaby centre on Monday (9) at 6pm. Applicants should be aged 18 to 65 and able to contribute 16 hours a month.
