Killer who slashed boyfriend jailed for five-and-a-half years

A MAN who slashed his boyfriend with a broken glass bottle has been jailed for five-and-a-half years for manslaughter.

Anthony McCall (56), of Redscope Crescent in Kimberworth, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court for killing Michael Riches.

Police were called to Swinburne Place, Herringthorpe, where Mr Riches (59) was found with life-threatening injuries in October last year.

He died at Rotherham Hospital later that night and a postmortem found his lower arm injuries had been caused by a glass bottle.

Det Con John Morris said: “Mr Riches lost his life in the most tragic circumstances.

“I am pleased that the sentencing will hopefully allow his family to close this chapter and be allowed to grieve in private.

“I would like to thank the family for their patience during the investigation.”
