Evans considers changes

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans is planning changes for tomorrow night's trip to Oxford United.

Saturday's 1-1 draw at Southend, courtesy of a late equaliser from skipper Johnny Mullins, made it five matches unbeaten for the Millers as the League Two promotion race hots up.

Tomorrow marks one of their games in hand on their rivals and Evans will consider tweaking tactics and personnel to face an Oxford side who beat title contenders Port Vale at the weekend.

He said: "We'll make one or two changes, not because one or two played badly but because I've watched Oxford and I have to do what I think is right.

"We have done our homework and we'll freshen the boys up ready for Tuesday and it will be another tough game for us."

Kevan Hurst's fine strike 17 minutes from time looked to have earned the points for Southend until Mullins equalised in the 88th minute to ensure some reward from a scrappy encounter.

"On the balance of play, I think we should have won," added Evans. "It was a really good performance and if we had managed to get in front in the first half I think we would have done so comfortably."

The result saw the Millers slip to seventh place but just a couple of points behind third-placed Burton with two games in hand.
