BROWNIES AND GUIDES: The Brownies made Mother’s Day cards. Most of the Brownies opted to make a card in the shape of a handbag which they then decorated with various stickers and sequins. The Guides made a Mother’s Day promise. Each girl wrote a promise to their mums for something that they would do for them without complaining. The girls had to pick something that they don’t like doing normally. The girls then mounted them on card and decorated them.

ST JAMES CHURCH, BRAITHWELL: March 19 – the churchyard at St James’ Church is rapidly filling up and on March 19 there will be a Gift Day in church during which people are invited to make a donation towards the cost of buying the necessary land to further extend the churchyard. The Village Memories Group is supporting this venture and there will be a display of old photos and guides provided for those who would like to know more about the historic church building. There will also be a talk by former churchwarden Thomas Best in the morning and in the afternoon, on Why We Should Love and Cherish Our Church, as well as an illustrated talk about vestments, their colours and meanings by priest in charge Jane Bolton. Light lunches will be served and refreshments will be available throughout the day. The event will be held 10am-4pm. If you would like to help but are unable to come on the day, contact churchwardens Joan Addenbrooke 01709 813271 or Christine Fish 01709 812600.
