Chuckles in town to sign autobiography

THE CHUCKLE Brothers will be back in town Saturday to sign copies of their first autobiography.

Paul and Barry Elliot will be meeting fans from 3pm at WH Smith in College Street as they launch The Chuckle Brothers: Fifty Years of To Me… To You.

The Rotherham-born duo, who grew up in East Herringthorpe and still live in the area, hit it big nationally with performances on Opportunity Knocks and New Faces after following brothers Jimmy and Brian and dad James onto the stage.

And it is this story Paul relates in the first instalment of his memoirs, with a later volume to cover their TV shows Chucklehounds and Chucklevision and their long-running career in pantomime.

Paul said he was looking forward to meeting the fans again, noting: “The last time we were in town was for the parade the play-off winners’ trophy in May. What a great day that was.”

Asked if the crowds would be as plentiful for tomorrow’s date at WH Smith, the veteran comic joked: “I’m sure there will be at least as many.”

If you've ever chuckled with the Chuckle Brothers, you can meet them at WH Smith in College Street from at 3pm Saturday (26) and get your own signed copy — from them, to you.

The Chuckle Brothers: Fifty Years of To Me… To You by Paul Chuckle with Bernard Bale, with foreword by Ken Dodd, is published by The World’s Fair and priced at £11.50.
