A police spokeswoman said that a Rover had collided with a Chevrolet—both occupied by lone females—leaving both drivers with minor injuries.

A motorist passing the incident told the Advertiser: “It only looked like a little prang, but the place is swarming with police and ambulances.

“There must be three or four police cars and they’ve shut the road off completely.”

South Yorkshire Police were unable to comment on Thursday afternoon about injuries sustained by the two women, but confirmed that the junction had been cleared and reopened by 11.30am.
