Rotherham pair winners in Cheggers cash giveaway

UNSUSPECTING Meadowhall shoppers were lucky winners of a £100 cash windfall presented by TV star Keith Chegwin.

Cheggers, teamed up with online prize company PCH Prizes, to give away £1,500 to 15 shoppers at the Meadowhall shopping centre.

Shoppers selected at random had to answer a simple queston to win an envelope containing £100.

Elaine Proctor, from Kimberworth, was one of the first winners

She said: “My question was easy — Keith asked me what metal Sheffield is most famous for, and when I correctly answered steel, he handed me the £100 cash. I couldn’t believe it.

“I always overspend at Christmas, so this is a much needed boost for me this month. I’m over the moon.”

Another winner was Gary Bates, from Maltby, who said: “My wife’s not going to believe me when she gets home from work tonight and I tell her I've won £100.

“We're off to Italy for my 40th birthday soon, so we've got some extra spending money now, it's great.”

Currently appearing on Dancing on Ice, Keith entertained shoppers by dancing his way around the centre handing out the cash prizes.

Keith said: “I’m absolutely loving Dancing on Ice but it’s such hard work, that's why I'm jigging around every minute i can, to get the practice in.

“For most of the contestants, it’s not so bad because they’re aged between 20 and 30, but I think people forget I’m a 56-year-old man.

“My body has so many aches and pains it keeps me awake at night, but I would never give up, it's a challenge and I'm determined to go as far as I can in the competition.”

Keith and the PCH prize team left the shopping centre late morning to whizz through to Sheffield to present the winner of pchprizes.co.uk’s free prize draw with a £15,000 cheque.
