Rotherham Citizens' Advice Bureau handed £35,000 boost

AN ADVICE centre has landed a £35,000 grant to help run its emergency helpline.

Rotherham Citizens Advice Bureau will use the cash from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales to staff its Gateway telephone system, which offers a “triage telephone system.”

The grant will help pay the salary of one Gateway adviser for two years to staff the telephones in the Rotherham call centre.

The bureau introduced the Gateway triage telephone system in December 2008 to help people in the Rotherham area access their advice services more efficiently.

Clients call the new Adviceline numbers 08444 111444 (landline) and 0300 3300 650 (mobile) and they are given targeted help at the first point of contact with the bureau.

Chief executive Annette Cassam said: “This grant represents a tremendous vote of confidence for us here at the bureau.

“We can identify client needs at an early stage and provide them with targeted help and information to assist them in resolving their problems quickly.”
