Police seek witness to Wentworth accident

WITNESSES are being sought following an accident which left a man in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at 2.20pm on Friday in Wentworth and involved a 56-year-old pedestrian.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “It is reported a green Land Rover Defender was travelling along Coaley Lane towards Wentworth.

“About 100 yards from the junction with Smithey Bridge Lane, the Land Rover was in collision with a 56-year-old man.”

The pedestrian was taken to hospital where his condition was described as critical.

The 30-year-old man driving the Land Rover was not injured.

Witnesses to the collision should call 101 quoting incident number 516 of February 6.
