‘Fresh’ look at school life

PRIMARY school pupils were given a taste of life at high school — thanks to a canoeing trip and graffiti-spraying sessions.

Dinnington High School welcomed the soon-to-be Year 7s for a preview of their new school life to come during a special Freshers’ Week, which featured different activities every day.

Arts and crafts, sports sessions and robot-making workshop were all the mini-curriculum alongside a ten-pin bowling, rollerblading and a visit to Rother Valley Country Park, which saw the Dinnington “newbies” taking on an assault course and climbing into kayaks and onto paddleboards for a splashing time on the water.

Joe Morley, from Dinnington High School, said: “The activities allowed the students to acclimatise themselves with the school while having fun and making new friends.”

The “freshers” started full-time at Dinnington this week as they spend the final few weeks of term with their classmates in preparation for starting Year 7 in September.
