Titans bring in Premier star

TITANS are the draft in Premiership star Neil Briggs to polish up their line-out drill.

Former Rotherham academy product Briggs, who this week joined Premiership Final winners Leicester Tigers, is to work with the Clifton Lane hooking team on a regular basis as coach Lee Blackett looks to hit the ground running when the new Championship season kicks off in September.

Briggs learned his trade at the Lane before switching to top-flight Sale Sharks in 2005. After six years there, he joined French club Bourgoin before moving to London Welsh last term.

Briggs was this week snapped up by Leicester, at the same time agreeing to his secondment at Titans and Bleckett is delighted at the acquisition.

“The reason we’re bringing Neil in because we have two new hookers in Ben Sowery and Tom Cruse and we’ve got Jack Preece on standby in case of injuries,” he said.

“Ben and Tom will be very dynamic around the field and we feel that by bringing a specialist like Neil  it will help them, and us, massively.
