More Rotherham parking just in time for Christmas rush

TOWN centre traders in Rotherham are to get a welcome boost for Christmas when the town’s multi-storey car park re-opens on Monday.

The car park, on Frederick Street, has been closed since 22 August as repairs have been made to its structure, in particular the entrance/exit ramp.

These have involved addressing structural defects, car park resurfacing and the replacement of the bridge spanning the river and have been carried out by contractors Lumsden and Carroll.

Once reopened there will be 684 spaces available to allow more people to do their Christmas shopping in the town.

The car park is open 5am-midnight , seven days a week and costs £1.20 for two hours parking, £2.80 for four hours or £6.50 per day day.

David Young, SYPTE Director of Customer Experience, said: “We are pleased to be re-opening the car park and that it is in time for people to do their Christmas shopping in the town.

"The repairs were essential to make the car park structurally sound. We apologise for any inconvenience but from Monday it will be open and ready to receive customers.”
