Millers' derby triumph

SKIPPER Johnny Mullins struck to earn a deserved derby victory for Rotherham United against Chesterfield at a packed New York Stadium this afternoon.

A crowd of 11,143 saw the Millers dominate, with Mullins heading the only goal from David Noble’s corner kick 12 minutes into the second half.

Rotherham should have been ahead by half time after seeing Daniel Nardiello shave the outside of a post and Kari Arnason force a goal-saving block from Jack Lester.

The one-way traffic continued into the second period and Alex Revell couldn’t capitalise on a one-on-one before Mullins broke the deadlock.

Chesterfield had a late effort by Armand Gnanduillet chalked off for offside  and a Drew Talbot header drifted just wide but they could have few complaints at the result against a hungrier and sharper Rotherham side.
