Police invite groups to bid for funding
Despite a backdrop of public sector cuts, South Yorkshire Police Authority has deemed the funding of its Community Grants Scheme to be vital and is asking voluntary organisations and community groups to put forward an application.
Grants from £30,000 to £50,000 are available to projects which address at least one of the priorities from the policing plan, such as improving public confidence and satisfaction, enhancing community safety and tackling crime.

“While the Police Authority is not immune from the cuts, we are also equally aware that in the current economic climate community groups are having to look at additional avenue streams.
“As a result, we believe the scheme remains vital in supporting projects which can make a real difference to local people across South Yorkshire."
The amount of funding remains the same as the last two years.

Groups have until 4pm on Friday, April 27 to submit an application for a grant.
Once all the submissions have been received, the Authority will consult with South Yorkshire Police before notifying successful projects before the end of May.
