Police name South Yorkshire's new top cop
SOUTH Yorkshire Police Authority has appointed David Crompton as its new chief constable.
The 48-year-old takes over from Meredydd Hughes, who retired from the force in October.
Mr Crompton joins from West Yorkshire Police, where he became deputy chief constable in 2008.
