Ford's new Mustang bolts out of UK showrooms

FORD’S new Mustang is bolting out of UK showrooms six months after it made its right-hand-drive debut on the market.

Almost 2,000 examples of the latest incarnation of the blue oval’s flagship model have been snapped up by UK customers keen to cash-in in on the kudos of the iconic American coupe.

The first UK customer deliveries of the cars — assembled in Flatrock, Michigan — are expected from November, with extra supply now secured to meet the greater than expected demand.

Ford officials revealed that 80 per cent of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible, with 70 per cent specifying the 410bhp, five-litre V8 engine over the more fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost. 

Mustang’s six-speed manual transmission is the slightly more popular choice, meanwhile, with a take-up of 55 per cent over the six-speed automatic.
