Deadline for elected mayor candidates

DEARNE voters wanting to put themselves forward to be Doncaster’s next elected Mayor has until next Friday to throw their hat in the ring.

Doncaster Council has now officially given notice that a Mayoral election will be held on Thursday, May 2, and candidates can now officially put forward their nominations.Nomination papers may be obtained from the Returning Officer, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, who will, at the request of any elector for the said electoral area, prepare for signature a nomination paper.  

Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, during normal office hours before on April 5.

Doncaster Council is urging residents to make sure they are on the electoral register ahead of the election.  

To register visit www.doncaster.gov.uk/elections, print off a voter registration form and return it to the council using the address at the top of the form.

Residents can also request a voter registration form or apply for a postal vote by calling 0800 180 4604.

Once you are registered to vote, residents can make their mark in one of three ways: by voting in person at a polling station, by postal vote or by proxy.
