Millers step up player search

ROTHERHAM United want to bolster their squad for the end-of-season run-in, with former £2 million man David Goodwillie among the targets.

The 23-year-old Blackburn Rovers striker, capped by Scotland, is available after struggling to make an impact following a big-money switch from Dundee United two years ago.

He went on loan to Crystal Palace early in August but returned north early because he couldn't settle in London and now it is understood the Millers want to take him until the end of the season.

Team chief Steve Evans is also looking to bring in a left-sided defender and a replacement for right-back Mark Bradley, who is out for the rest of the campaign with an ankle injury.

Rotherham, meanwhile, can steal a march on one of their League Two promotion rivals when they go to Cheltenham Town tomorrow.

It's a big game for the Millers but an even bigger one for the Robins, who have the same number of points but have played a game more.

Evans said: "Their pitch is sloping and in a poor state of health but we'll pick a team to go there to give us the very best chance.

"Even though we were outstanding in defeat to Dagenham last week, we have to believe that good performances will get us results."
