Police hand out 120 dispersal orders in six months
But only three have breached the orders so far by being involved in another instance of antisocial behaviour within two months.
Rotherham’s Designated Public Place Order — introduced in 2012 and covering the entire borough — allows police to confiscate alcohol in public places. Failure to comply can lead to arrests and fines of up to £500.

Hide AdOf the 122 people given notices in the past six months, one was given an Acceptable Behaviour Contract for reoffending, while two were handed ASBOs.
Steve Parry, Rotherham Borough Council’s crime and antisocial behaviour manager, said: “Tackling crime and ASB is a priority for both South Yorkshire Police and the council in keeping people safe and protecting the most vulnerable.
“Putting in place and supported a Designated Public Place Order shows a clear commitment towards meeting these priorities.”
