Fire crew battles chippie fire

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a chip shop after a fryer caught fire.

A crew from Dearne station attended the incident at the eatery on Wath Road in Mexborough at 7pm on Thursday (22) night.

The blaze was confined to one area and firefighters used dry powder to put it out.

The chippy is believed to have shut for the evening as the crew were in attendance for around 50 minutes.

Meanwhile, a skip was deliberately set ablaze in Wombwell on Monday  (May 27) evening.

The fire brigade took 45 minutes to put out the flames on Station Road.
