Harriers juniors impress

HARRIERS' junior athletes showed plenty of spirit when they joined a strong field in the North East for the start of the Young Athletes League and National Junior League.

The two have been combined to form a Youth Development League with upper (U17 and U20) and lower (U13 and U15) age groups. The first of the upper age group matches at a bitterly cold Clairville Stadium, hosted by Middlesboro Mandale AC, on Sunday.

With only a small squad available due to exam commitments, injury and illness, the Harriers were always up against it as they competed against strong teams from City of York, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Middlesbrough Mandale and Kingston upon Hull — all six having been in the Northern Premier Division in recent seasons.
