Millers take deserved point

ROTHERHAM United battled to a point at in-form Cardiff City and might have taken all three.

They were the better side overall in the goalless draw and had the clearer chances against opponents chasing a sixth successive home win, with recalled striker Alex Revell rattling the woodwork in the second half.

In the first period Scott Wooton, playing his second game on loan from Leeds, was thwarted by a last ditch tackle and a goalmouth scramble ended with Paul Green denied from close range.

The Millers carried the good work after half time as Cardiff laboured. Tom Lawrence forced a good stop from David Marshall and another of the recent loan arrivals, Emmanuel Ledesma, twice had the home stopper scrambling.

When the City did manage to threaten, Adam Collin excelled to deny substitute Federico Macheda in a one-on-one, and from the ensuing break Reece James crossed and Revell’s header hit the crossbar.

While skipper Craig Morgan was on the spot to make two good blocks late on, the well drilled Millers were well worth their point.
