“...and an update on the roads...”

JUST an update to my previous rant/observations on our road schemes

The works at the Marquis junction near to the Manor Farm area of Rawmarsh are now complete, hurrah! Although for the council to renew the street lighting whilst these works were underway and leave this notorious junction without lighting at night I’ll admit was scary, especially when the workforce were also working through the night.

There were so many traffic cones out during these night works it was a struggle to know where you were heading and if that wasn’t difficult enough the floodlights for the workforce would blind you as you approached up the hill from Brampton/Hoober.

The slip road to the new Tesco has expanded, slightly, so what a relief there! Not sure what’s happening by the Bailey Suite though.

Hooton Roberts traffic lights have materialised and are in full working order ladies and gentlemen, round of applause please, but could the council explain how we are to proceed through these lights if one is travelling from Conisbrough to Rotherham and wish to turn right to Kilnhurst? No right turn lane exists now, hatched markings down the centre of the road and a small patch of tarmac in the middle of the road at the junction. I presume one must hold traffic up on the main carriageway to turn right here? Scary thought if a 18 wheeler is up your back end and no, there is no box/ white turn arrow painted on the patch of no man’s land tarmac, if anyone is asking.

And finally Morthen Road, Wickersley, has been resurfaced recently and a joy to drive on, is it not. Well done RMBC, but wait a minute, what do I spy in the distance? Yes traffic lights, I hope it’s not being dug up already.
