Sir — After receiving a letter from the Environment and Development Services, as someone of average intelligence, the letter was confusing but the gist is that the under its  LDF core strategy Rotherham Borough Council is still intent on building on our Green belt.

As I say, I am no brain box but 12,500 homes represents 30,000 to 40,000 extra people in Rotherham, which is an increase of 10 per cent and around 10,000 more cars on our already busy roads.

Where will these people work and where will these people come from? There seems to be lots of empty flats and houses for sale/rent, so why not buy or lease these and keep our green fields for crops?
