Wingfield Academy a national leader on behaviour

A SCHOOL has been praised for its work to improve pupils’ behaviour — and highlighted as an example to others.

Wingfield Academy has become one of the Department for Education’s ten new behaviour hubs, which are used by the department to help other education providers to improve their own “behaviour culture” and make improvements.

Wingfield headteacher Phil Davis said: “Creating the right learning environment makes a massive difference, which in turn significantly improves students’ life chances after leaving school.

“This is great recognition not only of the senior team, but of the work the entire school community has done in making Wingfield a successful learning community.”

Chief executive of the New Learning Collaborative Learning Trust, Richard Fletcher, said of Wingfield: “We know that they do an exceptional job of working with young people from a wide range of circumstances.

“Being acknowledged by the DfE as a national leader on behaviour management illustrates how strong their systems and strategies are.”
