Time to teach Common Sense

I recently attended the annual Christmas Nativity and as usual the children’s singing and performance was excellent.

My only disappointment was that when the special thanks were given at the end of the show, not one word of acknowledgement was forthcoming for the retiring head Mrs Richards.

Is there a “gag” on the school staff and governors not to mention her name?

On returning home I read your article from Ofsted. Issuing this press release alone with the infants school ‘outstanding ‘is diabolical and further evidence of their dislike of the previous leadership at the juniors.

Communication with staff and parents at this school has always been first class. The previous head had better contact with children every day, not just when Ofsted inspectors turn up.

Whilst inspectors are necessary, it was recently commented by Barry Sheerman MP that Ofsted have been operating 20 years and improvement in schools is not helped by publically castigating ‘selected’ head teachers and staff.

Finally, if the tables are correct, why when there are schools in South Yorkshire which had worse results than Brampton Juniors per pupil teacher ratio, are they not being headlined?

No, Mr and Mrs Ofsted, one important statistic is missing from the tables, the teaching of Common Sense.
