Rotherham primary schools in country's bottom five

ROTHERHAM'S primary schools have been ranked among the lowest in the country in the latest league tables.

The tables show that 66 per cent of ten and 11-year-olds in Rotherham achieved the expected level four in maths and English compared to the national average of 73 per cent.

Three Rotherham schools were among 4,000 across the country to boycott the tables this year in protest at the impact preparation for the tests, which measure levels of attainment in primary schools, has on the rest of the curriculum.

Derby schools scored an average of 66 per cent with Nottingham, Peterborough, Medway and Norfolk all just one percentage higher.
