No-go for school’s evening opening plans

A PRIMARY school’s request to open later so it can host events like sport in evenings has been turned down .

A planning condition from 2019 means St Bede’s at Kimberworth is restricted to being closed by 6pm.

Headteacher Amanda Wassell applied to change the condition, hoping to host school and community sporting events until 8pm.

But Rotherham Council said insufficient evidence had been provided to show that neighbours would not be disturbed.
