Green-fingered Goldthorpe kids cook up a feast


Green-fingered children at Goldthorpe Primary School took part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Big Soup Share last Thursday.
They joined 1,000 schools and youth groups and more than 75,000 young people in hosting events to mark the tenth birthday of the RHS Campaign for School Gardening.

Hide AdUsing crops they had grown themselves, including potatoes and onions, the children cooked up a healthy red potato and pink onion soup which was donated to Goldthorpe Foodbank.
Outdoor Education Teacher Christopher Wharton-Lovett said: “The event was a real success, the parents and children worked really hard to produce a fantastic tasting soup.
“We are so proud that our work in the school can benefit others within our community.”
