Children name new Edlington streets

WHERE the streets have new names — pupils have chosen the titles for roads on a nearby housing estate.

Housing firm Keepmoat have Edlington Primary School the opportunity to name routes on its Yew Gardens development of 387 properties.

Teachers held a lesson help children come up with their own suggestions, focusing on Doncaster Racecourse and the St Leger.

The winners were: The Diamond Jubilee Way, Isinglass Drive, Flying Fox Crescent, Ormonde Avenue, Pommern Drive, Gainsborough Drive and Rocksand Drive.

Keepmoat community engagement manager Sarah Booth said: “Giving Edlington Primary School the opportunity to name the street has created a great community atmosphere which we’re sure will continue to grow.”
