We can't stop climate change

I had to chuckle – King Canute was the first thing that popped into my head and the line - "Ocean, turn back now! I have ordered you to retreat before me, and now you must obey! Go back!"

My understanding is that climate change has taken place on the Earth for around four billion years, mostly without the assistance of you or me.

It’s interesting, don’t you think, that the term "gobal warming" is disappearing from general use and being replaced by ‘climate change’.

Is that I wonder because there has been no statistical significant warming for 15 years? And there have been other warm periods in relatively recent history that can’t have been down to Co2. (Professor Phil Jones who is, as I understand it, a keen advocate of global warming had to admit at least this in a recent interview).

Now I’m no scientist but I have been doing a bit of reading on-line - Co2 has increased over the last 15 years so why has the global temperature not responded?

Also Co2 makes up only 0.04% (can you remember anyone telling you that? I was surprised) of our atmosphere – so why is this significant when the largest greenhouse gas is water vapour?

Might it just be that even our politicians couldn’t work out how to tax you on clouds?

That fact is – we have no real idea what’s going on. The so called computer models don’t include all the variables we would need to include to get some meaningful results.

It’s a bit like the England job – you or I could have a go and be just as likely to get it right as the so called experts. The 'experts' don’t include various aspects because they don’t understand them and so just choose to ignore them.

Don’t take my word for it by the way - get online and do a bit of reading, there are loads of interesting sites and discussion points. Don’t just take what you are told as fact.

There are lots of people making lots of money on this Co2 trip and they have agendas. If we all take responsibility for making up our own minds then just maybe we will reach the same conclusion as King Canute did whilst the waves continued to lap around him.
