Unwanted alley gates

Sir, I live on a pensioners' complex, nice and quiet. But a few years ago, a certain person cajoled the council into placing alley gates on some of the entrances to said complex for security even though some of the other people didn't want them.

Now lo and behold, nobody can use those entrances because the said gates are broken.

Well done the council for listening to the few and not the majority.

Maybe they can supply all of us pensioners and disabled with ladders or will we need permission of the person who wanted the gates in the first place?
