ParkesLife: Winter is on its way

THERE really is a chill in the air now which means one thing...winter is on its way. I love autumn, I love the colours of the leaves and the anticipation of Halloween and Bonfire Night but what I don’t love is the drop in temperature.

To make matters worse, last year I lost my favourite grey hat which for three months of the year is stuck to my head.

Yes people joked about me looking like a chimney sweep or a fisherman or as Chaz says “summat from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” but I loved that hat and am distraught that I won’t be sporting it during this year’s wintery weather.

In its place, I have bought a red, white and purple-striped wool trilby which I hope will compliment my winter wardrobe.

I’m not sure though but one thing is for definite, I can not get through the cold snap without something to keep my fringe at bay.

Rain, snow, mist, all these elements cause havoc with my frizz levels and I’d much rather have hat hair than a strawberry blonde moustache stuck to my forehead.

So yes, the winter does not bring me joy. Dark mornings and nights, cold tiles in the bathroom and kitchen and flippin frozen windscreens does not equal things which make me smile.

On the other hand, weekend lie-ins are much cosier, I get to bring out my slipper socks and chunky scarves and let’s not forget, my collection of different coloured p-leather boots.

Maybe winter isn’t so bad after all - it does give me an excuse to drink more hot chocolate and eat more parkin as well.
