Opportunism over Anston's roads

Sir, I write with reference to Mr Cammoile`s recent letter (Advertiser 28th Oct 28) in regard to the recent "Labour in Rotherham" newsletter.

Sir, I write with reference to Mr Cammoile`s recent letter (Advertiser Oct 28) in regard to the recent "Labour in Rotherham" newsletter.

Mr Commoile is right to refer to this item as "blatant opportunism", especially the part on Anston, "RMBC resurfaces Lakeland Drive."

I suspect that the Highways Dept "resurfaced" the road and not the Labour Party as it appears to imply in the leaflet.

The article goes on to say "Park Avenue to follow", this again implies the Labour Party were directly responsible for the resurfacing work that has taken place this week.

Would your readers allow me to also jump on the "blatant opportunity" bandwagon.

I spoke to an RMBC officer nearly two years ago about the condition of Park Avenue, (Labour Party members were present but I do not remember them "shouting" about the roads then) so to claim responsibility now is a bit late.

RMBC have now completed two stretches of Tarmac on Park Avenue, about 500 meters apart, sadly they left the ten or so potholes at the bottom of Warwick Way (the contractors had to drive over these holes to reach both areas).

Would the Labour Party In Anston like to claim responsiblity for the unfinished potholes?

The views expressed above are mine and not those of the Parish Council.
